Hesket Parish is a large civil Parish in the north of Cumbria, along the A6 between Carlisle and Penrith. The Parish is situated within Eden District, which has the lowest population density of any district in England1.  Hesket Parish has a population of 2,5882.

Encompassing the villages of Armathwaite, Calthwaite, High Hesket, Low Hesket, Plumpton and Southwaite, as well as surrounding hamlets and farms, the Parish supports five primary schools, six churches, three village halls and three play areas. There is also a garden centre and cafe in the village of Plumpton and a village shop and post office in the village of Armathwaite, in addition to five public houses across the Parish. As well as a train station in Armathwaite, there are regular bus services through the Parish, between Carlisle and Penrith.
