Below are details of planned road closures within Hesket Parish.
Wednesday 2nd March, 2022 – U3035, Low Braithwaite
In order to allow Cumbria County Council to carry out carriageway works, a section of the U3035 at Low Braithwaite from its junction with the U3035 extending in a south easterly direction for approximately 2.4km will be closed for one day on March 2nd 2022. An alternative route is available via the unrestricted section of the U3027, U3033 and C1036. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Monday 2nd November,C1038, Armathwaite
In order to allow Cumbria County Council to carry out carriageway works, a section of the C1038 Armathwaite from its junction with the C3027 extending in a north easterly direction for approxiametly 2km will be closed for up to 5 days from November 2nd 2020. An alternative route is available via the unrestricted section of the C1038, B6263, A6 Golden Fleece Roundabout, A6 and C3027. See map for details
Monday 2nd November,U3453, Low Hesket
In order to allow Cumbria County Council to carry out patching and associated highway works, a section of the U3453 Low Hesket, from its junction with the A6, extending in an overall north easterly direction for approximately 1km to its junction with the C3015, will be closed for one day on November 2nd 2020. An alternative route is available via the unrestricted section of A6 and the C3015. See map for details
EMERGENCY CLOSURE: Monday 19th October, C3015, High Hesket/Aiketgate
In order to allow BT Openreach to carry out emergency repairs following a loss of supply, a section of the C3015 from a point approximately 480m from its junction with the U3043, extending in a south-easterly direction for a total distance of approximately 184m will be closed for up to one day from October 19th 2020. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all time and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of the C3015, U3042, and U3043.
Thursday 30th July, C1040, Armathwaite
Due to urgent repairs required to be carried out by United Utilities, a section of the C1040 at Station Road, Armathwaite, from its junction with the C3027 Front Street, ectending in a northerly direction for a total distance of approxiametly 140m, will be closed for up to 5 days, from July 30th 2020. An alternative route is available via the unrestricted section of the C3027 Front Street, C1038, U1169 and C1040 Station Road, Armathwaite. See map for details
Sunday 12th and 26th July, M6
Carriageway resurfacing on the southbound carriageway of the M6, between junction 42 and Southwaite Services will be taking place for three weeks from 12th July To set up the traffic management and working areas, full closures are required on the M6 southbound between junction 42 to 41 on the 12 July 2020 and 26 July 2020. This will be in place overnight between 8pm and 6am. Associated slip road closures are also required, and localised signed diversion routes will be in place.
Monday 22nd June, 2020 – U3035, Ivegill
Due to urgent road repairs by Cumbria Highways, the U3035 (Colt Close, Ivegill), from its junction with the C1036 to its junction with the C1037 extending in a north easterly direction for a total distance of approximately 2.6km, will be clsoed from Monday 22nd June for up to five days. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of C1036, C3010, C1037 and vice versa
Wednesday 15th June, 2020 – U3035, Ivegill
Due to urgetn road repairs by Cumbria Highways, the U3035 (Colt Close, Ivegill), from its junction with the C1036 to its junction with the C1037 extending in a north easterly direction for a total distance of approximately 2.6km, will be clsoed from Wednesday 15th June for up to five days. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of C1036, C3010, C1037 and vice versa
Thursday 30th April, 2020 – C3024, Ainstable
Due to works by BT Openreach, a section of the C3024 at Ainstable, from its junction with the C1024, extending in an Southerly direction for approximately 800m will be closed for one day on Thursday 30th April. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the C3024, B6413, U3074 and vice versa.
Monday 6th April, 2020 – M6
Work to replace safety barriers between junctions 41 and 42 of the M6 is nearing completion. To facilitate removal of traffic management equipment, the following closures will be in place between junctions 41 and 42, between the hours of 10pm and 5am:
• M6 northbound – Monday 6 and Tuesday 14 April 2020
• M6 southbound – Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 15 April 2020
Associated slip road closures will also be required, and localised signed diversion routes will be in place.
Monday 30th March, 2020 – U3454, High Hesket
Due to utility works a section of the U3454 through High Hesket, from its junction with the U3043 extending in a north westerly direction for approximately 750m towards the northbound A6, will be closed to all vehicles for up to five days from Monday 30th March. Access will be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists, and a diversion is in place via the unrestricted section of the U3454 and the A6. See map for details.
Monday 2nd March, 2020 – M6
Due to the severe weather conditions, work on the M6 between junctions 41 and 42 has not been completed to schedule. Further closures will therefore be required as follows, between the hours of 10pm and 5am:
• Monday 2 March – southbound carriageway
• Tuesday 3 March – northbound carriageway
• Wednesday 4 March – southbound carriageway
• Thursday 5 March – northbound carriageway
Diversions will be in place.
February 10th, 2020 – U3021, Ivegill
Due to rail works, a section of the U3021 at Ivegill, from its junction with the C1036 extending in a south westerly direction for a distance of approximately 200m will be closed for approximately two days from February 10th, 2020. An alternate route is available via the unrestricted section of U3021, C3010 & C1036. See map for details.
January 20th, 2020 – C3015, Aiketgate
Due to utility works, a section of the C3015 at Aiketgate, from its junction with the U3042, extending in a north westerly direction to its junction U3453 will be closed for approximately five weeks from January 20th 2020. An alternate route is available via the unrestricted section of C3015, A6 Low Hesket & High Hesket and the C3027. See map for details.
URGENT ROAD CLOSURE: January 8th, 2020 – C1038, Armathwaite
Due to urgent underground cabling works to be undertaken by BT, a section of the C1038 at Armathwaite, from its junction with the C3027, extending in a northerly direction for approx. 1900m will be closed for approximately two days from January 8th, 2020. An alternative route is available via the unrestricted sections of the C1038, U1169 & C1040. See map for details.
URGENT ROAD CLOSURE: December 3rd 2019 – U3042, High Hesket
Due to urgent carriageway repairs to be undertaken by Cumbria Highways, a section of the U3042 at High Hesket from its junction with the A6 extending 300m in a North Easterly direction will be closed for approximately two days. An alternative route is available via the unrestricted sections of the U3042, A6, U3454 and U3043. See map for details.
URGENT ROAD CLOSURE: November 4th 2019 – C3003, Calthwaite
Due to urgent carriageway repairs to be undertaken by Cumbria Highways, a section of the C3003 at Calthwaite Bridge, approximately 860m from its junction with the C1037, with an approx. length of 55m in north easterly direction, will be closed for up to five days. An alternative route is available via the unrestricted sections of the C3010, C1037, C3003 (Calthwaite) and the A6 (High Hesket). See map for details.
November 11th 2019 – C3010,Southwaite
Due to stonework repairs and vegetation clearance by Network Rail a section of the C3010 at Southwaite, from a point approximately 600m north east of its junction with the C1037 extending in a north easterly direction for approximately 40m will be closed for up to five days, between the hours of 8.00am and 17.00pm. October 21st 2019 – C3027, Armathwaite
Due to carriageway resurfacing a section of the C3027 Armathwaite from its junction with the C3015, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 800m to its junction with the U3683. will be closed for up to one week. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all time. A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the C3027, C1038, B6263 and the A6. See map for details.
August 27th 2019 – U3039, Petteril Bank, near Southwaite
Due to utility works by BT Openreach, a section of the U3039 at Petteril Bank near Southwaite from its junction with the U3040 extending in a north easterly direction for approximately 430m will be closed for up to three days. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the U3039, C1037, C3010 (Southwaite) and the U3036. See map for details.
July 22nd 2019 – C1040, Station Road, Armathwaite
Due to utility works by BT Openreach, a section of the C1040 at Station Road, Armathwaite, from a point approx. 430m north of its junction with Front Street, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 430m will be closed for up to one month. A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of Station Road, Front Street and the U1169. See map for details.
May 13th, 2019 – U3036, Lincote, Southwaite
Due to utility works by BT Openreach, a section of the U3036 at Lincote, Southwaite, from its junction with the C3010 extending in a south easterly direction for approximately 280m, will be closed for up to two days from May 13th 2019. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, and an alternative route will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of the U3036, U3038, A6 and C3010. March 11th, 2019 – U3039, Petteril Bridge, Southwaite
Due to utility works, a section of the U3039 Petteril Bridge End, from a point approx. 100m north of its junction with the U3040, extending in a northerly direction for approx. 220m will be closed for five days. An alternative route for vehicles will be in place via the unrestricted sections of the U3039, U3036, C3010 and C1037. See map for details.
February 4th, 2019 – C3010, Southwaite
Due to emergency repairs, the road will be closed to vehicles for approximately one week, from the junction with Railway Lane for 15m in a north easterly direction. An alternative route for vehicles will be in place via the A6, C1017 and C1037. See map for details.
February 4th, 2019 – C1038, Armathwaite
The road will be closed to vehicles between the hours of 8.30am and 3.30pm for one week, between Armathwaite Village and Drybeck Viaduct. Access will be maintained for pedestrians and dismounted cyclist. An alternative route for vehicles will be in place through via the A6 and B6263. See map for details.
January 7th, 2019 – C1017, Wreay
The road will be closed to vehicles at the following points:
- From its junction with the C1041 extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 900m to Wreay Hall Lodge.
- From its junction with the A6 (Causeway House) extending in an overall westerly direction for a distance of approx.1250m to Wreay Hall Lodge.
- From its junction with the C1041 extending in a north easterly direction for a distance of approx. 1500m to Wreay Hall Lodge.
Access will be maintained for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists. An alternative route for vehicles. will be in place through Southwaite, via the C1017, A6 and C1014. See map for details.
